haircare products

One of the most common mistakes people make when it comes to hair is the products being used. It’s super important to read the ingredients list on your shampoos, conditioners, sprays, etc. because believe it or not you may be doing more harm than good.

Getting products that are good for the integrity of your hair don’t have to come with a hefty price tag. Not only will you be saving money in the long run, your hair will also be much more managable (less expensive in the chair too!)

It wasn’t until I met my good friend, Amanda, that I actually started caring about my hair. I’m a natural yellow blonde and I was occasionally box dying my hair brown and black. I was also using shampoos and conditioners that contained wax. Gee – no wonder my hair was so shiny! Once I switched to better hair products my hair results were out of this world.

Everyone who knows me knows that I LOOOOOOVE Amika products. You can find them in Sephora, your local stylist (always recommend supporting a small business FIRST), or even Amazon!

I shared this post (pictured left) back in December because overall they are my true favorites.

+ Wella FusionPlex Shampoo/Conditioner – will run you about $40 for those big bottles (pictured left) or you can get them on Amazon!

+ Amika Bust Your Brass Purple Shampoo – by far my favorite purple shampoo (and I’ve tried a lot). Not only is the smell PHENOMENAL but it doesn’t dry out my hair!

+ GHD Pro Platinum Plus Straightener – I’ve had this straightener for over 3 years and it’s my favorite I’ve ever purchased. I did splurge – but it was well worth it. Heats up in 30 seconds!

+ DryBar Detox Dry Shampoo – a must must must. I bought this on a whim one day in Ulta in 2019 and I’ve been using it ever since. The “Coastal Cooler” is my favorite, but the limited time “Grapefruit Mimosa” is a dream!

I recently bit the bullet and bought some L’ange Hair products – and I’m in love! Their products are cruelty free and free of toxic chemicals and dyes.

+ the Le Volume Volumizing Brush Dryer is perfect if you’re like me and HATTTEEEE drying your hair. I dried my hair in under 10 minutes…seriously…a game changer. It comes in 2 sizes, 75mm and 60mm. If you’ve got hair that is shoulder blade and shorter, grab the 60mm!

+ I love a good Sea Salt Texture Spray! I tend to have very thin, flat, boring hair and this product is a great one to add!

+ If you’re using a hair dryer, straightener, curling iron, etc. you need this Revival Heat Shield. It’s botanically infused and perfect for keeping the integrity of your hair!

+ the Mangé Marula Oil Hydrating Mist is a great finisher for your hair. Packed with antioxidants and UV Protectants, this product is great for nourishing dry & damaged hair (I use every time after I use a hot tool).
***TIP: DON’T SPRAY GENEROUSLY! You only need 2-3 sprays!!!

+ the hairbrush is so amazing. I love it for distributing dry shampoo on my scalp or a root booster!

+ skipped a washing? this deja vu dry shampoo is amazing! not powdery at all!!

+ If you hate using both a curling iron and a straightener – or just simply need to declutter you should check out the Le Duo Air Styler. It’s titanium plated and it makes curling/straightening easy. It also has adjustable temperatures perfect for fine or thick hair!

+ everyone needs a detangling comb in their life. I love this brush for brushing through curls without ruining the texture. they also sell it in a wide comb and in a travel size!

better hair tips

+ stop buying discount versions of the name brands from T.J. Maxx/Marshalls etc. These products often don’t match the actual brand and I’ve seen them even contain different ingredients. READ YOUR LABELS!

+ using hot tools? whether it be one time a week or 7, heat protectants are important. I always use a heat protectant and a moisturizing spray after EVERY encounter with a hot tool.

+ bleaching your hair dries it out – and so does purple shampoo. be careful after treatments and consult your stylist for the best ways of keeping your hair happy and healthy.
